Cousin Pics

Yesterday Bethany and I took the kids to CLIX to get "cousin pics" for mom for her bday!! OK - try getting a hyper 3 year old to sit still, a 3.5 month old to look at the camera and not cry when she sees her mom, and Marc to hold a smile the entire time. NOT EASY. It was actually crazy. After they took about 65 digital photos, there was ONE that was passable. I'll scan them later and post them. Pretty funny. Oh well, Nana will be pleased. I showed Dad last night and he said she'd really like it. Matty had a "day out with Nana" on Monday. They got to ride the bus (which was a HUGE treat for Matthew), play in the salt water in Mukilteo, get ice cream and have loads of fun. Unfortunately Matty gave himself a black eye, so Nana will have her grand kids picture with a little extra decoration. Oh, and Matt also colored pink marker on his arm and I didn't notice until we got to CLIX. Nice.

Marc had a day out with Nana a couple weeks ago. The theme for the day was "transportation." They drove down to Edmonds, took the train to Seattle, rode the trolley, went kayaking on Lake Union (where they saw Auntie Molly and Auntie Hilly at work waving from their office), and took the train back home. Oh, and there was a bus involved too. And they got to meet Papa for lunch at his restaurant. It was a GREAT time. Here are a few pics from both of the kids days with Nana.

LAKE ROESIGER

What a typical week in the summer consists of usually involves "The Lake." We have been spending our summers for years on the dock, in the sun. I thought I'd share a few pics of the last few months. In the one at night, Scott is sitting with the boys on the 4th of July. It's the coolest place to be on the 4th!! Tens of thousands of dollars of fireworks are exploding EVERYWHERE and it's so beautiful! The rest of them are just the kids playing around.

Papa

Oh, and an update on Papa....

He's doing much better, but very, very tired and not up and about. He went to the hospital on Sat. last week and found out he had a blood clot in his lung. He was having a really hard time breathing. I just talked to him on the phone and he sounds much better but very winded! We're hoping he'll get to go home in a few days. Scott stopped by yesterday and talked with him for a while and said he looked well. His color was better and he was very talkative :)

I will hopefully be seeing him soon. For those of you who have seen Matty lately, you'll understand why I don't want to bring him to the hospital. The last thing we need is him running off into someone's room, scaring them and giving them a heart attack!! Plus, Grandma doesn't want the kids at the hospital unless the really need to be there. Thanks to those of you who have been praying for him. We appreciate it more than you know :) Here's a pic of Papa and Ayla last month on Grandma's birthday -

The start of my Phillips Family blog!

So why not start a blog. I'm always sending emails to everyone near and far. This way I can be creative and you fine people can spy on my life (kidding)!!

I have so many fun things I could tell you about our summer. Mostly we've been staying at our cabin on Lake Roesiger. It's been fun, the kids are super tan, we've got a lot of exercise and had tons of bug bites. A lot of people have been up to visit us, and we've done our fair share of visiting others as well!!

Matty decided a few weeks ago that he wants to be a singer. I have to admit, he's pretty good for a 3 year old. Everywhere we drive, he has to sing - non stop - all the time - at the top of his lungs. It's cute for the first 10 minutes. Bless his precious, little heart :)

Marc started soccor a few weeks ago. Every year he plays football in the fall, but this year I wanted to change it up. Marc is the best on his basketball team, as well as his baseball team :) (Proud Mama), and is definitely a super athlete, but football is just not his sport. His very first practice ever was 2 weeks ago, and my little stud scored the first two goals after he stole the ball from a bigger kid! I can't wait for his first game next week.

I just can't believe school's starting next week. The summer has come and gone so quickly this year. At least Scott's been working close to home so he's been able to join us at the lake almost 100% of the time.

Anyway - Bethany is bringing Ayla down on Thursday and we're going to get "cousin pictures" taken for mom for her birthday. It's a surprise and she's going to LOVE it!! I finally get to see Christina this weekend, so I'm stoked. AND - we're having a camp out at the lake, so we're going out with a bang!! I'm going to post my blog address on myspace, so if we're not friends and you're truly not interested in my life or my kids - get a life and go away. You know who you are! Thanks!!
